USF defeated Seton Hall 76-74 in overtime on Thursday night in Tampa, Florida.

Dominique Jones led the way for USF with 28 points while Center Jarrid Famous finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Jeremy Hazell led the Pirates in scoring with 28 points.  Robert Mitchell added 11 points and 4 rebounds off the bench while Herb Pope grabbed 17 rebounds and scored 5 points.

The Pirates are 0-3 in overtime this season.  This may have been the worst loss under the Bobby Gonzalez era.  After beating Louisville and Pitt the last two games, SHU came out flat.

“You can’t continue to beat teams all the time. Sooner or later, you’re going to get knocked off, unless you’re one of the elite teams,” Gonzalez said. “It’s hard to keep beating somebody all the time.”

This has some Pirate fans scratching their heads.  They have a 12-7 overall record and are 3-5 in the Big East.  After the Georgetown lost, Gonzalez discussed the team's Big East schedule.

"I mean, we just haven't had a break. It would help us to play, I'm not saying any game in this league is easy, if we played a DePaul or a South Florida or a Rutgers or just somebody that's a little more normal, it might have helped us, because these teams right now are just unbelievable."

SHU will head to Philadelphia on Tuesday as they take on first place Villanova at The Pavillion at 7 p.m.  The #3 Wildcats are 19-1 overall with a 8-0 record in the Big East.  They are led by Big East player of the year candidate Scottie Reynolds.  The senior guard is averaging 18.7 PPG and 3.3 APG.  Nova uses a small and quick starting line-up so look for the Pirates to counter with Robinson and Pope in the front court. The Pirates will need to go inside and get Pope going early. Both team average about 40 rebounds a game.

Nova won last year's match-up which was a thriller as the Wildcats defeated the Pirates 89-85 in Newark, N.J. behind Reynold's 40 points.
